Michael Tran
Associate
I won a scholarship at my local high school before moving to Australia from New Zealand. When I commenced high school in Australia, I was placed in a grade 1 year higher.
I studied and obtained degrees in Law and Biomedical Science at the University of Technology, Sydney.
During my university years, I worked as a volunteer at my University’s Law Centre helping other students with their legal problems and for a charitable organization which helped young people with their legal problems.
I was the Young Lawyers representative of my regional law society.
I worked as a solicitor at a major personal injury law firm for over 6 years.
I have undertaken training in Medical Assessments provided by the University of Sydney and the Motor Accidents Authority of New South Wales, the same training provided to Medical Assessors under the New South Wales motor vehicle accident system.
I have also worked as a consultant for law firms appealing and challenging medical assessments, in many cases resulting in clients being able to receive increased compensation.
One of which was a medical assessment for a worker suffering from schizophrenia, who was originally assessed as having 0% whole person impairment, being successfully overturned on appeal to an assessment of 22% whole person impairment.
I was also involved in a case that resulted in one of the highest payouts at the time for a sexual harassment type case.
I am experienced in workers compensation, motor vehicle accident, work injury damages claims, and personal injury claims.
I have appeared before the District Court, Personal Injury Commission, Administrative Appeals Tribunal and the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
